About Youghal :

A famous seaside town with origins back in the mists of time and links with many famous names and events- Sir Walter Raleigh, Oliver Cromwell,Robert Boyle, the Earls of Desmond, films like Barry Lyndon and Moby Dick, writers like William Trevor ( whose book "the Story of Lucy Gault" gives a wonderful insight into a special moment in Irish history and, of course, the river Blackwater and its hinterland permeate the book.
