The Club Assembly is the night which ends one presidential term of office and begins another, the night when the various Service Chairpersons outline their plans for the year, the finances of the club are examined and the Rotary International objectives of the coming year are outlined.
Each of these is covered individually - so if you want to skip to a particular section , just click on the relevant word and hey presto! you're there!
OUTGOING PRESIDENTS' REMARKS - SECRETARY REMARKS - INCOMING PRESIDENT'S REMARKS
Dorothy Heaphy as outgoing President thanked the Club for the honour bestowed upon her and all the fun and enjoyment she experienced during the year. She also thanked all the members for supporting the various projects throughout the year and assured them of her ongoing support for them in the future.
In addition to resuming a former role as Club Secretary, Dorothy has been invited to take a seat on the national Rotary Foundation Committee.
Secretary Kieran O' Connor's Report
"The year gone by was a busy one. We took on board some of our usual projects that we have become well known for in the area e.g.
the Memorial Christmas Tree, the Christmas Concert - which was very successful as Rebecca Storm literally went down a storm and the GAA Club were very helpful by providing us with an excellent venue , staffing the Car Park etc. The Sensory Garden in Cois Abhainn and the Ark Project in Cork were the main beneficiaries of our Christmas Fundraising.
The Bowling night in aid of our two International Projects -i.e. the Good Hope School in Zambia and the ISLA Project in the Philippines were again the beneficaries. We were very pleased that Sr. Mary from the ISLA Project spoke at one of our meetings in September.
We held a Wine and Cheese Party in January which helped raise funds for Foundation.
Our mobile phone and used printer cartriidge collection in aid of the JAck and Jill Foundation has also worked well.
We have maintained our links wiith Fermoy Rotary Club as their Sponsor Club and they hosted a thank you evening for Youghal Rotary in October. Our Past President , David Kelly, arranged for historian Kieran Heffernan to speak at a public meeting in Fermoy on the "Houses of the River Blackwater" and a good number travelled from Youghal for this.
Outgoing President Dorothy hosted a wonderful Barbeque Dinner in June, we had our Round RObin Dinner in November and in May we had our third Club trip away - this tiome to Birr, Athlone and Clonmacnoise. Our social year ended witht he President's glamorous Midsummer Ball, our first Blacktie event.
We attended District Conferences and District Council meetings throughout the year.
It has been a good year for the club and we all look forward to President Peter's year.

President Peter's Address
Fist of all, I would like to thank all of you for the confidence shown in me. I would like to thank Karen and all the staff in the Red Store for their continued support, making our meetings possible and pleasurable.
following Dorothy is a hard act, her light touch with which she achieves results, her knowledge of everyone and everything in Youghal, her infectious sense of fun and her unfailing sense of humoour are irreplaceable.
For next year I am proposing some slight changes of emphasis in order to help us be more flexibleand adapatale in a rapidly changing world.
I would like more Guest Speaker and Job/ Hobby Talks
I would like to have closer ties with our neighbouring Rotary Clubs.
I would like to apply for a matching grant on one of our projects
I would like to set up a Sub Committee with a view to recruiting more younger members.
In September we shall have an opportunity to talk to families when measuring some sunflowers for our Sunflower Competition.

RIBI
Assistant District Governor Gerard O'Reilly spoke of Rotary at national and international level. The motto for the year coming is "Make Dreams Real" - especially for children. Alarmingly 30,000 children die each day due to malnutrition, poverty, disease. In Africa over 90% of children with disabilities do not get to school. This is common in many developing countries. School for all is an objective of Rotary.
Bill Gates of Microsoft has offered to donate $100,000,000 to the Rotary Foundation objective of ridding the world of polio. The only condition attached to the wonderful offer was that it be matched by Rotary Funds - each club has a target. Youghal is reaching its target each year.
Gerard O'Reilly reminded Youghal Rotarians of the upcoming Annual conference in Sligo in September (25th and 26th) and a number of projects that were being highlighted this year for action - the Organ Donor Project, the Alzheimers Project.
